In the pre-production process of the documentary, I had to find a set of colors that matched the feeling I was creating through my story. In class, we had studied the color semiotic theory and analyzed how different colors are associated with different feelings and emotions. After researching, I came upon a color palette of red, orange, and yellow, colors that are typically associated with a sunset and feelings of optimism and friendliness.

Once I had the house colors set, I began to use them in different parts of the film. As I created by production logo, I used the colors in a gradient style creating a comfortable and calm environment within my production company title. The logo was then used to create the stop-motion title card that is played in the beginning of the film.
In the post-production stage of the documentary, I kept the house colors in mind when designing the title "A Teacher's Hand" and how it appeared on screen. In the magazine component of my project, I used the color orange as the primary design aspect to match what has been done throughout the rest of the project.
By deciding on a house color, the audience can understand how each element of my project remains connected and true to the story being told.
