My film centers around teacher student interaction and simplifying the impact teachers make on students' lives both academically and personally. Students have grappled with mental health and academic challenges, surged in the post-COVID world, and in school they might struggle sometimes, but their teachers are there to guide them.
In order to tell this story, I have to set the school environment. For my opening sequence, I wanted to capture students walking in their normal routines in and out of classes and during lunch.
I positioned myself around different parts of campus to record these shots. I set my iPhone on my tripod and captured each shoot with footage to spare to avoid any complications down the line.
After organizing the different shots on my script, I recorded several different angles of students walking and talking throughout the school campus. On Cap Cut, I used four different clips of footage each timed at around five seconds with the audio being heightened at times I pause on my voiceover.
The opening of the documentary comes after the title card introduction and sets the scene for the rest of the film.
