Location Scouting

My final portfolio will feature a documentary capturing the impacts teachers play in students' lives. To successfully capture the insightful story I intend to, I need to record footage that involves teacher and student interaction and exemplifies the importance of it.

The main setting of my documentary will be on my school's ground as students walk, sit, and talk in areas as a part of their daily routine. Examples of shots include students walking down the primary pathway from the student parking lot that also incorporates framing and leading lines to build the atmosphere of the school itself.

To get deeper into my story, my interviews will take place in teachers' classrooms allowing teachers to feel more comfortable in their environment where they work every day. By recording in classrooms that coincide with my script, I will be able to capture authentic footage that shows the relationship teachers have with all their students when they teach and develop them academically and personally.

As my story progresses, the relevance of the topic will become more apparent and that will be furthered by more real time footage this time incorporating the students. When interviewing the students, I found select spots around campus that give ample room to record and hear the audio effectively while still maintaining a background that involves others walking around and being in their environment. Spots like these include the benches across the basketball courts next to building one and the open gated table across from the entrance to building six.
